Dimo's *not* going with Agatha? I have misgivings, too. Also he deserves a proper briefing.

Agatha needs someone she can trust with Gil and Tarvek.

She does have a point.
She's a sovereign ("it's her town") and when relevant needs to act accordingly, at least if people watch. As such, she really have to involve her own forces.
Dimo both knows the place and can vouch for Gil being "Hokay now" so that the Jägers and other Mechaniacs would stop hiding and join his alliance as soon as possible.

But yeah, sending one's bodyguards away before what looks like a fight is generally bad.

I'm sure Agatha has a good reason for sending Dimo - and it is just Dimo at this stage.
Agatha will still have Violetta, Zeetha, Axel, Oggie, Maxim, Martellus, Hadrian, Krosp and (probably) Bang to assist and protect her.

EDIT: Besides Higgs, Dimo is the only (brevit) General outside of Mechanicsburg. Higgs is the spymaster so he shouldn't be used to openly command the Jägerkin. Also, Dimo can vouch for Gil, that he is on the Mistress' side.
