This one has comments already. Shall we stick with it?
By way of actual discussion: Does this have something to do with the chemical link that Martellus created between himself and Agatha? Perhaps he created a similar, though slower, dependency in himself.
Entirely plausible -- if nothing else, he did something to himself to generate (or neutralize?) whatever he inflicted Agatha with a dependency on. He might even have known about it and figured it wouldn't be an issue because of course his chemical leash would keep Agatha nearby.
Speculating a bit further ahead, is this new arrival going to result in Agatha in the lab trying to fix some of this mess with four sparky boys trying to "help" and/or romance her? With Trelawny, Seffie, and Wooster in the romance plot mix somewhere.
> if nothing else, he did something to himself to generate (or neutralize?) whatever he inflicted Agatha with a dependency on. Indeed. If the antidote is harmless in modest doses, it may still have long-term effects, or accumulate. Which raises more questions about the weasel, of course.
