I'm surprised the boards were merely erased. Have you ever tried to completely eradicate what's written on a whiteboard? Any TV forensics team would get the equations back in five minutes.
You're assuming that the boards were merely erased. Acid-wash them to eradicate the writing, then wipe them with chalk brushes to give the appearance that they were merely erased, thus wasting the time of anyone trying to follow up. Eradicate the writing, write up new stuff -- perhaps a dangerously-modified version of what was there -- then erase; that would disguise the alterations.
