If Tobber was poking at temporal physics, Agatha will probably want to dig into his research notes. Likewise the people with Prende's Lantern -- who may have done him in and, if so, likely stolen notes and/or equipment.

I wonder if the scary monsters associated with temporal equations are the Dreen?

I'm reminded of Charles Stross's universe, where the mere expression of certain mathematical formulas can open portals to monstrous dimensions.

I just learned that "tobber" is slang for an unlucky person. No wonder he's dead.

Theo duMedd is still okay (so far as we know), so it doesn't always work that way.

(In the Potterverse... if you name your baby "Remus Lupin", don't be all surprised if he gets werewolfed later in life.)

Other than that Huge Tentacle Thing (in Mechanicsburg) and the Muse of Time, but neither of those is likely.
