If there was ever any doubt of it, Krosp is indeed a cat.

Albia. Vapnoople created enough of a problem that Klaus had to take him out. Novelization says that took three years. Now a talking cat in a military coat, claiming to be one of Vapnoople's creations, shows up commanding an army of bears, also Vapnoople creations, along with Vapnoople himself for whom the CAT ia requesting asylum. The cat and Lady Heterodyne appear to be not only acquainted but good friends. All of them now in Albia's domain. That "WHAT?" can easily be several emotions combined.

Besides the combination of characters and how they complicate matters, this is NOT anything like what Albia was expecting.

madfilkentist: Krosp, from Girl Genius by Phil and Kaja Foglio. (Krosp)

The interesting question now is why Krosp brought Vapnoople to England. He didn't seem to be in danger; Klaus had done everything to him he was going to.

Perhaps Krosp thinks Albia has the expertise to repair his brain.

Maybe to get him off Castle Wulfenbach and away from Klaus, who destroyed Vapnopple's earlier creations because of their strong loyalty to their creator. Klaus ordered Krosp to be terminated. He would have destroyed the bears as well. Now Vapnoople (what's left of him) is in the company of his creations, including his "Masterpiece" (Krosp).
He's brought Vapnoople to a place Wulfenbach doesn't control. Paris is closed. Krosp and the bears have their "Papa". It's more emotional than logical.

> Klaus ordered Krosp to be terminated.

In the novel, Krosp says he hid his intelligence, "Which, in retrospect, might have been a mistake." So whoever scheduled him for termination (who may *not* have been Klaus, we're never told) didn't know he was intelligent.

Though given what we've since learned, I can see being leery of a Vapnoople "masterpiece". And it's not like Krosp is all that moral himself. But it seems like the Baron would still have given Krosp rope to hang himself with, rather than killing him immediately.
