Being wasped can have pretty drastic effects; see Passholdt and the results of some experimental wasps. It's possible that nasty things happen if one of the Lackya gets wasped.
While the Passholdt ghouls were most likely a result of wasping, that was experimental. And evidently a failure. Hraggel’s Point shamblers were there as a part of a prepared operation, thus could be unsubtly augmented after it turned out they are brain-damaged and unsuitable as sleepers. It could have this effect on already altered people… but then, it’s an arbitrary stretch. CW has a lot of labs with mad science going on. And we already know occasionally runaway experiments sneak around. Such as Krosp. Someone could be deliberately or accidentally exposed to all sorts of things there.
