This island wasn't on the original schedule. It may have taken the place of a section that was originally going to be in Africa.

I thought this was part of the overall England arc. We'll see, though--I don't know whether we had any indication what they were going to be doing in Africa.

If they're going to Africa, I hope Embi is involved, maybe even with some backstory/cosmology on his oath to see the world.

But no one knows where Skifander is. That's the point.
It might be in Africa. :]

Though there does seem (especially in the novelisation) to be a free-fall section somewhere in the journey from Skifander.

It was called out as a separate leg of the journey, IIRC--England, then Africa, then Skifander.
