I've assumed all along that Barry rescued young Agatha ... until now. That silhouette leads me to think that it might have been Gil! Especially if Gil hulks up in the future, as has been hinted.
Also, Barry wears glasses (or goggles, sometimes). This person doesn't seem to be wearing any.
I don't think we've seen Barry wearing anything like that lapel gauge (which looks suspiciously clocklike. Hmmm...), although his vests of pockets are something of a hallmark. No beret, either.
That's a good question. I was thinking that Gil might have just passed her off to Barry to preserve the timeline, but then I had a thought: what if Gil traveled in time and intervened, but events broke such that Barry 1) didn't realize that Gil was saving the day, and 2) thought that he was Klaus.
And that would be why Barry was convinced that Klaus was in league with the Other.
At whatever time the events occurred, Klaus might have been a tool of the Other. We know he's been wasped. We have reason to believe that he's still capable of some independent action (remember the story he told to Phil, in-comic?), but we don't know how much.
Although I suspect that this silhouetted figure isn't Barry, I do believe we'll see him, and Bill, and possibly Original Lucrezia, as active participants in the drama at some point. "Agatha Heterodyne and the Electric Coffin" (which we have been told is canon!) portrays Agatha as more or less a free agent -- she doesn't seem to be The Heterodyne ... So someone else must be. Possible candidates are Bill, Barry, and maybe even a time-rescued Klaus Barry.
Good point. However, this opens a road to more twists. Up to and including participation of Punch. After all, if they need the toughest and most experienced guy who isn't a Jäger but unquestionably loyal to Agatha? That's him.
Looking back from the next page -- but also looking back to Vrin telling talking to Agatha about it -- this sepia section is the story Tarvek is telling, but it's not an entirely accurate story, and the images don't necessarily reflect reality any more than those in the Dragon of Mars story. Tarvek doesn't specify who got Agatha out of Citadel, and possibly neither he nor the geisterdamen through whom this version of the story reached him knew or even had solid speculations.
I expect that the geisterdamen coming to Europa through a Queen's Gate is accurate, though, given that Lucrezia & assorted minions and allies have some of those working.
The un-asked question remains: how will the Geisters react on re-appearance of Lucrezia? Will this revive their faith, or after usurpation and the rest of this mess their opinion of her divine foresight dropped too much and they left her for good? I suspect schism-within-schism. Both as believable (in "human nature" way) and because faction conflicts are a natural fertilizer for plots (see also: Order of Jove).
If a legitimate Lucrezia appears, the Geisters will have no choice. They're not under the same control as wasp victims but they are compelled. Agatha was able to filibuster one with that compulsion, and then Lucrezia was able to kill her by command.
That depends. Some of them had gone heretic (Loremistress Milvistle, e.g.), and it may be that the techniques they used to free themselves from the need to obey Agatha could be extended to Lucrezia.
