So it's Moonbark. With color, it's obvious in the Friday comic that it isn't Agatha or Lucrezia.

A few folks had made that call in the discussion of Friday's strip.

I have to wonder, though, how sound is being propagated across the interface if all matter is bounced back?

The interface may be flexible. Air vibrates against the boundary without passing through; the boundary pushes against the air on the other side.

No matter needs to move across the barrier for sound transmission -- energy transmission enough to vibrate material on the far side will suffice. The mirrors may even be deliberately set up to have an audio/visual option without matter transmission -- The Queens observing Lozz probably didn't care to invite her through, for instance.

Steelgarter seems to have some engineering chops in addition to her other skills & resources. And it's interesting to see how her second set of arms is arranged -- assuming she started as a standard four-limbed human, I wonder if she gained height with extra arms. Sure, but propagation of vibration through matter requires a close enough interaction between particles to transfer kinetic energy, and from the comic solid matter that tries to cross the interface is pushed back. So there's apparently an active repulsion force on matter at the interface, which will interfere with any transfer of kinetic energy.

The mirrors coming with an a/v mode is a much better solution.

Interesting, also, to see that she wears a conventional bra. If the body segment with a second set of arms -- including scapulae and spine in the thorax -- had been acquired by "grafting" then we might expect to see a second set of breasts, too.

More questions: Who did that to her, and why? Was it voluntary on her part, or was it forced upon her as it was with Boris? Does she juggle? >grin<

That might depend a lot on the inclinations of the spark responsible for the modifications.

Tangentially, pondering sparkish preferences -- Lucrezia appears to have a strong preference for people who follow her orders without question, or at least without the option to disobey. Are all of Madwa, Steelgarter, Monahan, and Moonbark wasped, and if so, do they know it? Monahan and Moonbark are both sparks, and sparkwasps may be in rather limited supply but do exist ...

Given that Steelgarter does not appear to have a lengthened torso, particularly from the back, I think the extra arms are "tacked on" to her ribcage. How that joint works is for speculation. Of course, in a fantasy anything is possible.
