The question is how many of these rats there are. Sheer numbers can overcome almost any defense. Also, the battle is bound to attract the notice of the island's villainous residents.

Will the noise draw Madwa off the cliffs? Or just more rats? Is the airship crew armed? From the defenders point of view, this is a two prong attack. How quickly will they determine which is the main force and which is the diversion?

It already attracted the giant rats -- how smart they are and how much or how quickly they can communicate with Monahan is not yet clear. Did the rats set up the alarm at the top of the rope, or notify her, or did she (or a minion) notice them eating people and investigate and follow up?

From this page at least Neena landed on the island in addition to the folks on today's page. Did Bang, or she going to wind up fighting Madwa on the cliffs? (Do any of the airship crew rate highly enough to be involved in that fight rather than spectators?) Where are Maxim and Oggie?

A death ray would probably attract too much attention, under the circumstances. I don't think we've ever seen a sottle, shneecky-like death ray.

Rakethorn already holds something that does not look suppressed. Violetta may or may not restrict herself to knives.
Agatha probably has something built. The question is whether it's more subtle than her usual inclination toward ridiculous overkill suggests.
