OK, that probably doesn't tell you anything unless you've read the Buck Godot Gallimaufry story. Basically, they are extremely powerful beings not native to this dimension. As Skybreak noted, at least two were working for/with Baron Wulfenbach, and fought Slaver wasps on Castle Wulfenbach after Rovainen activated the Hive Engine. For whatever reason, they did not then exhibit the powers demonstrated by the one that shows up in Mechanicsburg (10/29/2012) and destroys Martellus' mecha. At the time, Tarvek and the Generals thought it was one of Wulfenbach's, come to collect Agatha. However, what we see of its motivation in the novel suggests that it was operating independently, and was acting to ensure that Martellus would eventually join Agatha and Tarvek.
As Skybreak noted, at least two were working for/with Baron Wulfenbach ...
Well, we can't be sure of even that. They might have been two extensions of a single higher-dimensional being into Agatha's universe. Really, all we know about the Dreen so far is that they're extra-dimensional entities and they wear hats. >grin<

Earlier we see two in the service of the Wulfenbachs and then later Gil and Bang encounter one in Saint Szpac (which I'm assuming are the three that Robur summoned).

But I didn't see any when Gil and Higgs entered in Mechanicsburg.
