Perhaps later we'll get a better understanding if Kjarls arrival predates Albia becoming a Queen, but in the meantime I'm wondering if she knew he was here and whether she would have been able to see him.
There's got to be a connection between Kjarl's appearance and the mirrors. I'm guessing his appearance somehow enabled their creation. Even with Sparks, the creation of such technology in neolithic times takes a little extra explanation.
Unless the mirrors are alien artifacts (which we can't rule out) then their creation seems to a bit "which came first, the chicken or the egg?" so I think time travel is likely to be a key in their origins.
Could there also be mirrors in the higher dimensions that were used and could be used again?
The differences in Kjarl's appearance make me wonder how the Eldritch Extradimensional Entity descending on Mechanicsburg would appear in its own dimension ... or what it would look like when fully in Agatha's.
It would be amusing if the Eldritch Extradimensional Entity turned out to be one of the cast members that we've already met. The Dreen, perhaps? Or even Agatha herself, returning from an adventure in another dimension?

She can presumably see and understand the higher dimensions. Can/does she visit them?

Could Lu have been seeding Van Rijn with the idea of a portal and then used his work to help build the original mirrors?

Could it have been Agatha? I'm pretty sure that was Agatha herself saying "LIKE THAT?" as her friends were nearby (and out just of view) telling her to look scary.

"The Ht'Rok'Din has a firm understanding of causality" and I think so too does Agatha.
