(Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the Lord High Conservator dead? Or was the six-eyed guy that succumbed to "a strong poison" someone else? I don't have the strip/link handy.)
We have seen a few things printed in other languages, maybe it's not a mistake. Or maybe it was deliberately left as a test for the students of whoever made this cage.
My question is: vengeance against whom? The Heterodynes? The Sturmvorous clan? Beausoleil? (That one I would support.) The Other? (Let the Muse at it!) I have a feeling that, whoever is the target, this Muse is far less willing to listen to reason than any of the other nine.
I think the genre conventions pretty much require it to initially, mistakenly be sent after the Heterodyne, as yet another complication for her to have to deal with/overcome. How she does so, and what happens after that...
Okay, we now have a "Muse of Time" and a "Muse of Vengeance" that weren't in the original nine-muse pantheon.
Does anyone have a copy of "The Works"? I'm wondering whether Hoffman and Larana were in the original plan for Girl Genius. I wouldn't be surprised if they, like Sleipnir O'Hara and Theo DuMedd, had been given larger roles than the Foglios originally had intended. It seems to me as though this "Muse of Vengeance" subplot might have been an embellishment that the Professors grafted onto the original plotline after the saga had started.
The Works? As in, the card game? I have a copy. Neither Larana nor Hoffman are in it--nor is Theo. There is, however, a "Hilde" who is marked as a Queen and a Librarian.
